BRODOSPLIT PARTICIPATES IN THE FLOATING WIND FARM PROJECT

Brodosplit has taken part in the Eolmed project, a flagship initiative owned and driven by renewable energy company Qair, and one of the first pilot floating wind turbine projects in France, located approximately 18 kilometers off the coast of Gruissan in the Occitanie region.

The project has entered its final phase following the successful launch of three floating platforms in September. Each platform supports a 10 MW wind turbine, providing a total installed capacity of 30 MW.

Eolmed represents a major milestone in the advancement of renewable energy in France and contributes to Europe’s broader energy transition through the implementation of innovative floating wind technology. The project is expected to generate electricity sufficient to power thousands of households and will play a key role in the decarbonization of the energy sector.

The realization of the project involved multiple international partners, including Brodosplit, the Italian company Fincantieri, and other specialized firms. Brodosplit was responsible for the production and delivery of the steel structures for the floating foundations, manufactured in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety.

Prior to its involvement in the Eolmed project, Brodosplit had established a strong presence in the field of floating wind technology through its collaboration with the French company Ocergie. For Ocergie, Brodosplit constructed the innovative OCG-Data measuring buoy for the Blue Oracle project, also located in the Occitanie region. The buoy is equipped with LiDAR and advanced sensors for monitoring wind, waves, currents, and marine biodiversity, providing essential data for the development of floating wind farms and the preservation of the marine environment.

Brodosplit’s participation in the Eolmed project reaffirms its technical expertise and its ability to contribute to complex international initiatives in the renewable energy sector. It also underscores the contribution of Croatian shipbuilding to the development of innovative and sustainable energy solutions across Europe.
