Brodosplit workers fought for a good cause

Split, 26 February 2018 - At the humanitarian race „End Polio Run„ which took place on 25 February in Split, Brodosplit workers also actively participated thus giving support in the worldwide fight against infantile paralysis.

Despite the sleet and extremely unfavorable weather conditions, on 5 kilometers long track which started on the Riva, nine female and eight male shipyard workers did not discourage and showed their nobel hearts in fight against this incurable disease.

The race was organized by Split Half Marathon as part of the event "18th Split Half Marathon" in cooperation with Rotary Club of Kaštela and Rotary District 1913 Croatia. One part of the revenue from each paid entry fee will be donated to the Rotary PolioPlus Foundation for the fight against infantile paralysis, and Brodosplit Management has covered the costs of registration fees for its employees.

Polio or infantile paralysis is a contagious disease for which there is no treatment and usually affects children under 5 but can be prevented by vaccination. It is transmitted from person to person, most often through contaminated water. The disease attacks the nervous system and usually leads to paralysis.
