Submarines from Brodosplit Thrill Social Media

Published: 06.03.2026.

Posts about submarines built at the Shipyard of Special Facilities have attracted great attention from audiences on social media. Over the past month, posts dedicated to submarines have been viewed more than 850,000 times, with interest coming from all parts of the world.

These include the Heroj-class submarines (Heroj, Junak, and Uskok) built in the late 1960s, the large Sava-class submarines (Sava and Drava) built in the late 1970s, and six small diver-delivery submarines (Tisa, Una, Zeta, Soča, Vardar, and Kupa) built between 1981 and 1986 according to a design by the Brodarski Institute.

Today it is known where all of them are located, and it is particularly encouraging that some have been preserved in excellent condition. The submarines are dispersed among museums throughout the region and represent part of the rich maritime and shipbuilding heritage created at the Brodosplit shipyard, where unique underwater projects were developed and built over several decades.

The strong public interest confirms that the history of domestic shipbuilding and innovations in maritime technology continues to attract the attention of experts, enthusiasts, and the wider public.

It is especially encouraging to see connections with numerous profiles, organizations, and communities that share an interest in maritime history, submarines, and industrial heritage. Such cooperation contributes to raising awareness about the importance of preserving and promoting this valuable part of technical and maritime tradition.

Posts about submarines will continue in the coming period with the aim of bringing this fascinating and valuable heritage even closer to both domestic and international audiences.
