Brodosplit Participates in Floating Offshore Wind Project Eolmed

Published: 29.09.2025.

Brodosplit has participated in the Eolmed project, a flagship initiative owned and driven by renewable energy company Qair, and one of the first pilot floating wind turbine projects in France, located approximately 18 kilometers off the coast of Gruissan in the Occitanie region.

The project has entered its final phase following the successful launching of three floating platforms in September, each supporting a 10 MW wind turbine, with a total installed capacity of 30 MW.

Eolmed represents a significant step forward in the development of renewable energy in France and contributes to Europe’s energy transition through innovative floating wind turbine technology. The project is expected to provide electricity for thousands of households and support the decarbonization of the energy system.

Several international partners were involved in the project, including Brodosplit, alongside the Italian company Fincantieri and other specialized firms. Brodosplit was responsible for the production and delivery of the steel structures for the floating foundations, manufactured to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Prior to participating in Eolmed, Brodosplit established its expertise in floating wind projects through collaboration with the French company Ocergy, where it developed the innovative OCG-Data measurement buoy for the Blue Oracle project in the Occitanie region. The buoy is equipped with LiDAR and advanced sensors to monitor wind, waves, currents, and marine biodiversity, enabling the collection of essential data for the development of floating wind turbines and the preservation of the marine environment.

Participation in the Eolmed project confirms Brodosplit’s technical expertise and ability to engage in complex international renewable energy projects, highlighting the contribution of Croatian shipbuilding to the development of innovative energy solutions in Europe.
