In recent years, Brodosplit has increasingly been visited not only by employees and business partners, but also by pupils and students from across Croatia. The shipyard is steadily positioning itself as an “open-air classroom,” where theoretical knowledge from technical and maritime fields is complemented by concrete, hands-on experience in a real industrial environment.
Brodosplit continuously organizes visits for primary and secondary school pupils, as well as students from technical and maritime faculties. During these tours, participants have the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the functioning of a complex industrial system, production processes, modern technologies, and the experts involved in the design and construction of ships.
“Maritime schools educate future seafarers and professionals in the maritime industry, and direct insight into the work and operation of ships is of exceptional importance for the quality of education,” emphasized Mirela Žižić, Principal of the Maritime School.
With the introduction of modular teaching in vocational schools in Croatia, cooperation between the education system and the economy is further emphasized. In this context, Brodosplit stands out as one of the key destinations for implementing parts of the curriculum in a real working environment, from tours of production halls to familiarization with advanced technologies and the work of highly qualified professionals.
Modular teaching enables students to acquire practical knowledge and skills, while providing the economy with an opportunity to actively participate in the education of future professionals. Students become acquainted with professional standards, technological processes, and career development opportunities in shipbuilding and related industries.
Brodosplit continues to record growing interest in field-based teaching, with the shipyard being visited by schools from Dalmatia, other parts of Croatia, and educational institutions from abroad, including the United States. In addition to their educational value, such visits also have an important career dimension, as many young people first seriously consider a professional path in technical occupations and industry during these tours.
Brodosplit offers a unique environment for gaining practical experience and represents a significant complement to the theoretical knowledge acquired in classrooms, while reaffirming the importance of systematically linking education and the economy.
