At the construction site of the Ston Bridge on the route of the access road to the Pelješac Bridge, the last segment (C) with a length of 84.4 meters and a weight of 363.50 tons was erected and installed. Due to the terrain, this segment was lifted simultaneously by two giant cranes.

The bridge is 485 meters long and 40 meters high. It connects two tunnels over Ston Bay with five pillars and two abutments. The entire section consists of only six segments, which are built-in large, air-conditioned industrial halls of "Brodosplit" and transported by sea, which makes the quality and durability of such a structure much higher than when several smaller segments are built.

With the Ston Bridge and Prapratno Viaduct projects, Brodosplit continues its positioning in the market niche of large iron structures.

"We are pioneers in this part of Europe, maybe even in the world, when it comes to manufacturing 400-ton structures indoors under controlled conditions - which we then install in the project in one piece. With one of our cranes we can erect up to 750 tons and with two cranes, as in the Ston Bridge project, even up to thousand tons," said Tomislav Debeljak, President of the Management Board of Brodosplit.

The largest segment is 93.8 meters long (the size of a soccer field) and weighs 323.30 tons. The assembly was carried out using a Manitowoc giant crane with a capacity of 750 tons, which is the largest load that a Croatian company has independently handled to date.

Construction, transportation, and assembly of metal structures are unique projects for the Split shipbuilding industry, which constantly invests in equipment and machinery to meet the requirements of customers in terms of quality, capabilities, competitive offers, and delivery times.
