Assembly of Main Engine on Test Stand

8/08/14 - Currently assembly of main engine for Yard No. 325 is taking place on test stand in Brodosplit-Diesel Engine Factory Ltd. The vessel is a tanker for transport of oil products and chemicals, with deadweight tonnage of 49,500 TDW, built in Brodotrogir Shipyard for the company Trogir Maritime Ltd.

Brodosplit - Diesel Engine Factory Ltd. and Hrvatska brodogradnja Trogir Ltd. contracted building of two main, electronically operated two-stroke slow-speed diesel engines of new generation. Engines will be manufactured  under licence MAN Diesel & Turbo, type 6S50ME-B9.3 TII, with maximal power of 8680 kW at 103 RPM. Contracted consumption is 159.3 g/kWh at the power of 5815 kW and 90 revolutions per minute, which means about 22.2 tons of diesel per day.

Throughout the previous period, Diesel Engine Factory Ltd., in collaboration with MAN, manufactured and technically improved new type of electronic engine with enhanced performance and reduced fuel consumption. Engine complies with the strictest valid regulations for exhaust gases TIER II, and is won on strongly competitive international tender among all world manufacturers of two-stroke slow-speed diesel engines.

Delivery of engine to the client is envisaged in the fourth quarter of this year. Shipyard Brodotrogir has been long-standing partner of Brodosplit Diesel Engine Factory Ltd. that delivered 8 main engines to it in the last 10 years.

Acceptance Test of Main Engine

23/02/12 - On 23rd February 2012, a bed trial of the main engine of Hull 470 was performed in Brodosplit-Diesel Engine Factory. It is a ship size handy bulk carrier for the transport of bulk cargo, with capacity of 52.000 dwt and contracted for domestic shipping company Jadroplov from Split.

Bulk carrier has the same dimensions of the m/v „Peristil“ i m/v „Sveti Dujam“ which are built and delivered to the domestic shipping company in 2010. By applying the new regulations, main engine is changed, so the Newbuilding will have better features – she will achieve lower fuel consumption and lower pollution.

Engine was built under licence of MAN B&W Diesel, type 6S60MC-8.2 with M(aximum)C(ontinious)R(ating) of 7500 kW at 110 r/min. Engine performance was optimised on 85% of MCR i.e. 6375 kW at 104,2 r/min. A fuel oil consumption at optimised point is 166,4 g/kWh, meaning more than 24,5 tons of fuel oil per day.

The ship will have a dual class, and its construction is supervised by Classification Society Bureau Veritas and Croatian Registry of Shipping.
